平成11,12年度「ギガビットネットワーク利活用研究開発制度」に係る研究開発課題 ”異種超高速ネットワーク間の知的相互運用とtele−careへの適用に関する研究開発” Research and development on intelligent networking between heterogeneous ultra high-speed networks, and its application to tele-care (プロジェクト番号:11465), 愛媛大学名誉教授 田崎三郎 他 Saburo TAZAKI: Ehime University, honorary professor |
In the inter-connection and inter-operation between the networks whose purposes differ, "a policy of how to use networks mutually" (it is henceforth called just a policy) is important. In this research, a policy-based control which controlled the priority and band-width of routing was mainly studied, where the policy was based on a required communication quality, i.e., QoS; Quality-of-service, or an end user's ID. The intelligent networking in this research was realized by doing the following functions; extracting "QoS policy" from abstract concepts, and interpreting the extracted policy to actual IP-routers' setting commands automatically. By this proposed method, burdens and artificial mistakes of network administrators were mitigated, and the policy of inter-construction and inter-operating techniques of networks was realized without contradiction. Furthermore, it was shown that the proposed method was useful for the so-called tele-care applications, such as home medical care and home-visit nursing care.
This project was done before JGN Ehime access point started. Therefore the research results could be applied to operate the access point where the campus network of Ehime University, the network of Ehime University Hospital, networks of prefectural and city governments were interconnected. At the access point where such heterogeneous networks are interconnected, the policy-based routing technique is needed. In this project, the policies based on a required communication quality, i.e., Quality-of-Service (QoS), or an end user's ID were implemented. A part of the results was applied to the networks for cooperation between medical institutions, and radio link of wireless LAN in Matsuyama. In the provincial city in which rural and remote areas are held, the demands of remote medical treatment or remote education are so high, that this research results will be utilized in such a field from now on. The real-time transmission equipment of DV (digital video) video was commercialized by this research's members.
